How SPI to CGPA works

SPI (Semester Performance Index) measures your performance in a single semester, while CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average of every SPI you've earned so far. The formula is straightforward: multiply each semester's SPI by that semester's credit load, sum those values across all semesters, then divide by the total credits.

This method is standard across almost all Indian universities using the CBCS/CBCGS credit system, which is why — unlike CGPA-to-percentage conversion — it doesn't need a university-specific formula.
